| THE RETREAT LAKE - CARP FISHERY OPEN APRIL 2006 THE LAKE The Retreat Lake carp fishery is a great new exclusive venue for up to 3 anglers or those wishing to combine a fishing holiday with their family. The wedge shaped lake is nearly 3 acres in size with depths from 1 to 5 feet. The lake bed is firm with patches of silt and there is an island with bridge access across the lake. It is well stocked with around 120 common and mirror carp, with the largest weighing 45lbs and a good number of 20 and 30lbs fish. The lake is completely private and night fishing is permitted. There is complete access around the lake on foot and car parking adjacent to the lake. Bait can be purchased on arrival and is the RETREAT SPECIALS provided by top bait company Custom Bait Services. Our bait is based on the mega catching RED BARON. The carp in the lake have been fed on the Retreat Specials during the winter and receive plenty of it on a weekly basis so they are well used to it. You are welcome to bring your own bait, except particles, which must be purchased on site. Bait boats are permitted on the lake. Landing nets, unhooking mats and weigh slings are provided, free of charge and must be used at all times. -
- THE LOCATION The Retreat Lake is in a secluded position, and located only 6 kms from the beautiful river town of Chateau-Gontier in Mayenne. The town offers excellent facilities including a variety of supermarkets and shops, restaurants, bars, a swimming pool, boat trips along the river and a weekly market. The Retreat Lake can be reached by car from the ports of Boulogne in 4.5hrs, Calais in 5hrs, Caen(Ouistreham) in 3hrs and St-Malo in 1.5hrs. The Retreat Lake is located about 30 mins south of Laval, the capital of Mayenne and the A81 motorway. THE ACCOMMODATION The traditionally French converted stone gite sleeps up to 6 and is furnished to a high standard. The gite directly overlooks the lake, which is less than 30metres away. It comprises of two bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin) a spacious lounge with additional sofa bed and satellite TV. The fully equipped kitchen has a range style gas cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and breakfast bar. Washing machine, towels and bed linen are all included and a cot can be provided for infants, if required. Water, electricity and gas are also included. The bathroom has a bath with shower over, basin and toilet. A separate cloakroom is also located by the entrance hall with additional toilet and basin. There is a lovely breakfast/dining room which overlooks the lake, opening onto an outside terrace with garden furniture. This provides an ideal place for relaxing and enjoying the surrounding views of the lake and gardens. There is also play equipment for keeping the children amused and ample private parking next to the gite. A separate utility room provides storage for both fishing equipment and clothing and has a bait freezer in situ. Finally, a selection of games, books and children’s toys are provided for both relaxation and entertainment. |

| THE OWNERS Craig and Caroline Neary live on site to welcome you personally to The Retreat and help you make the most of your stay. We are on hand to provide you with information about what to do and where to go, should you wish to leave the lake, as well as providing meals. Breakfast, snacks, evening meals and Sunday lunch are all available from our menu, if required. DIRECTIONS The Retreat is located in the department of Mayenne, 24kms south of Laval and 6kms north of Chateau-Gontier, off the main N162 road, approximately 2kms from the village of Fromentieres. PRICE The total cost for exclusive use of the lake and accommodation is £795.00 per week. Separate prices for meals are detailed on the menu. |
